Submitting Application Materials

Summary of Admission Procedure - Timetable

May 13, 2016 VMCAS Application Opens. (VMCAS Application)
September 15, 2016 (To prevent extra delays, it is recommended that you have transcripts sent to VMCAS by August 15, 2016.) Transcripts due to VMCAS.
Thursday, September 15, 2016 by Midnight EST VMCAS Application and all letters of reference due.
Friday, September 16, 2016 by Midnight EST MU Supplemental Application due.
December 31, 2016 GRE/MCAT tests must be taken prior to this date.
January 6-8, 14-15 of 2017. Specific dates will be set soon. NON-resident interviews held.
February 1, 2017 GRE/MCAT tests scores must be received.
Feb-March 2017 Missouri resident interviews held.
Mid August 2017 Orientation week.
Late August 2017 School begins.


Requirements for Application

Applicants must meet all academic requirements regardless of degrees held. Among those requirements is a cumulative GPA of 3.00 achieved from a U.S. regionally accredited college or university.

Each student must complete an application(s) and have official transcripts from all institutions of higher education ever enrolled mailed to VMCAS by September 15, 2015.

Each student must submit scores from the General Record Examination (GRE) test and have results sent either to VMCAS by September 15, 2016 or directly to the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine by February 1, 2017. If sending to VMCAS use code 7268, if direct to the School use Institution Code 6875 and department code 0617. Only test scores attained within the last three years will be used in calculating academic evaluations. (No scores attained prior to December 31, 2013 will be accepted).

If currently enrolled in a graduate program where a degree would not be completed prior to entering Veterinary School, a request will be sent on submission of our Supplemental Application for a letter from his or her major professor stating knowledge and approval of the student’s application to the College of Veterinary Medicine.

Letters of Recommendation

Letters of recommendation from influential citizens carry no more importance than letters from other individuals. Applicants are allowed to submit up to six evaluations, at least three must be submitted to VMCAS by September 15, 2016. At least one evaluator must be a veterinarian. Evaluations are not accepted from relatives by birth or marriage. Additional letters submitted outside the VMCAS application are not forwarded to the Admissions Committee.
