An Invitation to the Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians of Missouri to Join the Faculty and Students of the MU-CVM-VMTH for a Unique Continuing Education Opportunity
Many of our alumni may remember a weekly House Officer Seminar Series from your days as a student. This series of presentations delivered by the residents and interns at the VMTH has been around for well over a decade, but we are pleased to be able to now offer attendance for continuing education credit recognized by the Missouri Veterinary Medical Board.
The Seminar Series typically involves a 50 minute presentation by a resident, or two, 25 minute presentations by interns and first year residents. These seminars may be based on topic reviews, research, or other areas relevant to either small or large animal veterinary medicine. While the specific title may or may not be available, the content area at least is provided on the seminar schedule. We hope these seminars will not only prove educational, but will provide an opportunity for us to connect with Missouri's veterinary professionals.
Veterinarians and veterinary technicians are welcome to join us once, or on a regular basis throughout the academic year. Seminars, which are held on Fridays at 12:00 Noon, generally break during the summer semester and are not held on official University holidays.
The mechanism approved by the state board for us to award credit to non-faculty and staff of the CVM is to collect a suggested donation. We are requesting a minimum donation of $25 per credit hour of CE be given to the Silent Partners fund of the VMTH. This fund is used to help defray the cost of care for animals whose owners have documented financial difficulty, but whose pet could be significantly helped with medical care. The $25 donation to the Silent Partner fund can be made at the time of the seminar through our development office (W205 Vet Med Building), the VMTH cashier (Clydesdale Hall), or it can be mailed to the CVM Office of Development, W205 Vet Med Building, Columbia, MO, 65211, attn: Silent Partner Fund. We will ask you to sign in documenting your attendance, and will provide you with a certificate demonstrating your seminar attendance, title, and earned CE credit at the time of the seminar. We hope to see many of our referring veterinarians and alumni here at least a time or two this year.
